Emma Hutton-Thamm

Therapeutically, Emma is a warm, empathic, person-centered Psychologist who values the tailoring of evidence based approaches to the unique, individual needs of each client. She believes that therapy is not only a space for recovery and healing but also for the growth of skills and capacities through which an individual’s quality of life can continue to improve over time.

Emma is a Generally Registered Psychologist with experience working in private practice, inpatient and outpatient mental health, and crisis responding. She is also experienced in the facilitation of Insight Meditation Retreats for adolescents, as well as the delivery of Triple P Positive Parenting skills in both group and individual settings. In addition to her therapeutic work, Emma teaches undergraduate Psychology, and has previously worked in research for the Greater Good Science Centre (UC Berkeley) and the Wellbeing Institute for Neuroscience and Contemplative Wisdom (California). The focus of her research was on the intra-individual factors associated with the development of emotional intelligence and resilience.

 

Emma completed her Bachelor of Psychological Science (Hons) and Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Queensland. She is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and is recognized as a provider of Psychological Services under Medicare. Emma is also a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). She is currently working towards her endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist.
